The ability to communicate effectively in English is essential for a researcher. A course on Academic Writing & Research will help the learners on the academic writing skills to be prepared for an academic or professional world. Readings and assignments cover major components of academic writing, including genre-specific rhetorical organization and styles, data commentaries, paraphrasing, summarization, and citation.

COURSE DURATION

This course will be three months long and will be conducted in hybrid mode. The theory and practical sessions will receive equal weightage.

Course Specific Outcomes:

CO1: Craft texts in different genres (e.g., summary, problem statement, annotations, etc.).

CO2: Produce an original academic research paper in your field of studies.

CO3: Practice analysis in written form through synthesis of academic papers. 

CO4: Provide constructive feedback to peers on their written work, and address issues identified by the instructor and peers when revising one’s own written work.

CO5: Correctly use the preferred citation style (e.g., APA, MLA) in your field of studies.

CO6: Use standard written English’s conventions or grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
